Precisely. Discretionary income moves into diverse segments. Depending on individual's age, place of residence and culture.

Case in point Germany was a country averse to equities. Iy required a huge campaign for people to go and buy equity of privatized Deutche Telekom.

You may recall Thatcher England mid-70s when the push came for people to buy shares.

Now if you look to a couple of billion people BRIC raising their income, it points that their discretionary income will be 'invested' into food rather than in financial asset.

Food as education are investments too. Now if one would want to use an instrument as a proxy, you would use food, agriculturals or banks of BRIC countries to cash in on that growth.

It is already becoming clear to you that ALL incomes positions play into the stock market.
