Don't buy yet, is my opinion. Wait until there's blood on the streets. No point buying if you need the rent to pay the mortgage, that's what's blowing up even as we speak. Speaking anecdotally, the hurt seems to be worst in immigrant communities, whether legal or illegal I have no idea, but if the illegals are being expatriated are there enough legals left to carry the weight? Yet another reason for the dreaded "sell to whom?" phenomenon. Or, in your case, it would be the "rent to whom?" phenomenon.
