JMAR Technologies Completes Successful Demonstration of Next Generation BriteLight(TM) Laser for U.S. Army
Thursday July 26, 8:30 am ET
JMAR's double-pulse laser technology proves viable for LIBS applications

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--JMAR Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:JMAR - News), a leading developer of advanced laser and high-resolution imaging and photonics technologies, announced today that it successfully completed a demonstration of its man-portable, double-pulse laser technology intended for real-time spectrochemical hazard analysis.
The demonstration was a major milestone in the Phase II SBIR award from the Army, which resulted from an earlier Phase I feasibility study on using a single laser to produce the needed double pulse. JMAR was the only contractor selected for a Phase II contract to design and build such a laser, based on its proprietary BriteLight laser technology for producing intense plasmas. The JMAR prototype exceeded the Army Research Laboratory's stand-off distance performance specs by a factor of two.

Utilizing a unique combination of high-power and high-brightness, this successful outcome promises to increase the number of laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) applications. Employing the double pulse (DP) capability, DP-LIBS allows the detection and identification of very small (femtogram) traces of hazardous materials such as explosives and drugs, at close contact and stand-off distances, as well as related applications including forensics, biological contaminant detection, and agricultural analysis, such as crops being over or under fertilized.

"We're pleased by the ability of our redesigned Britelight laser to substantially increase the optical signal for LIBS. The potential impact covers multiple critical military missions," said Neil Beer, CEO and president of JMAR, "If the Army elects to implement DP-LIBS, coupled with the commercial and national defense applications, it represents a significant opportunity for the Company."

About JMAR Technologies

JMAR Technologies, Inc. is a leading innovator in the development of laser-based technology and x-ray processes for nano-scale imaging, analysis and fabrication. The Company is leveraging more than a decade of laser and photonics research to develop a portfolio of products with commercial applications in rapidly growing industries, while continuing to carry out research and development for the U.S. Government.

JMAR's pursuit of leading edge products targets nanotechnology, bioscience and the semiconductor industries with its BriteLight(TM) laser, a stand-alone product as well as the x-ray light source in nanolithography systems. In addition, JMAR employs key strategic alliances for the production of a hazardous materials chemical sensor, and the production of a nanoparticle ultra-thin coating system.

JMAR is undergoing a major restructuring, more than just the selling off of the one product. If you look at their request for late filing of the 10Q, you will see that they have also had a turnover of the financial officers. This week, JMAR is listed as JMARE meaning it has failed to file the 10Q before the 8/20/07 deadline. Strange, why did they request a delay in filing on 8/15/07 but indicate they still planned to submit by the deadline? Could that have been a typographic error? Is the CEO filling out his own financial statements now? What would be more important to know is what is the new business plan going forward. Everything suggests the emphasis is shifting back to the sale of the laser product into as many OEMs as possible.
