The fact that ocean levels were vastly different 8,000 years ago than they are today tends to bolster to skeptics of the "The skies a falling GW crowd". There was a GW cheerleading piece on the (liberal) History Channel that claimed any disruption of ocean levels would probably destroy the mechanisms that move heat and cool around the globe.
