Darleen, please forgive me for not remembering but I presume Bob was you husband. Actually, I don't think I knew his name

In the event, please accept my deep condolences and sympathy. Also please convey my condolences to Paul and your daughter.

$100K is a big number for a day in hospital, especially when the outcome is negative. It's almost like having to forfeit one's life savings before one dies.

I don't think one can generalize about national health care as it applies to the individual. If one is fortunate to have a good doctor in any country one is indeed fortunate. I can tell you the day I fear the most is the day I have to be admitted to hospital for anything because most of the good doctors have gone I don't know of any good ones who are left. I'm just so glad that I am still registered and I am able to prescribe for myself and the family because there are no GPs here either. In fact, I'm spending more time reading medicine and treating people round the place than anything else I do, including writing rubbish on the internet.

I see the NYSE closed on a note of optimism. I suppose that's because the Fed dished out a few billion freshly printed dollar bills. No doubt they are looking forward to another handout next week if prices fall again.

With every good wish to you and the family.
