At the time, I shook my head and wondered what was wrong with the picture, now I know. They were in way over their head. Someone should have given them a little guidance. When I was a realtor, the first thing I always did was take the people to a lender to find out exactly how much they could afford, and I never let them go over. If they wanted to live above their means, they had to find another realtor and lender, because I wouldn't let them do it.
You'd starve in the market that led up to this crash. :-) You're supposed to help them get in way over their heads. :-)

I'm talking about the young ones now, the older ones knew pretty much what they could and couldn't afford.
Experience runs a hard school, but a fool will learn in no other. But eventually they learn. :-)
