Looked to me as though its really just one big party. Romney had an incredible number of crowd workers out there handing out the good stuff. I dont think many of even the people voting took it very seriously. I think the purpose is to eliminate the really weak candidates rather then to select the ultimate winner. jdn

Gotta be a resident of Iowa, and pay $25 to vote in this straw poll, right?

(So it's mostly an effective fund raiser for the local Party committee. Small under populated rural states like Iowa gotta use all they can to keep their political power up - else all those subsidy payments [corn, ethanol, etc.) might not always roll in so freely. :-)
