art cashin just said something interesting about the cash infusion not potentially getting to the 'right people'.....hmmm...

if by right people he is referring the same funds with 'landmines in the basement' (his phrase)... why would that be?

i heard a discussion last week about some of the banks that had made margin calls on the hedge funds were in a pickle because they have some of the self same subprime sludge in THEIR portfolio....so mark to market is good for the goose but not the gander....

more and more this is looking like a refusal to take losses in the hope that some intervention will prevent the loss, but as others have written, these losses are so diffuse, there's no one to 'sit down at the table' with and so the cash infusion may not be getting to the right people...

dammit i want to know where there those cash infusion are landing....i mean, a billion here, a billion there, pretty soon you're talkin' real money!
