much of this LBMA gold trading is just moving e.g. 50 tonnes of gold from one LBMA lockbox to another LBMA lockbox. But that's the basis of all trades of everything except actual physical commodities destined for real industrial use... Even simply changing the ownership tag on a pallet of gold bars must be matched with an equivalent fiat currency transfer or a transfer of some other commodity in another market. It's trading and it's in volume regardless on how you try to rationalise it...
