Hunting doesn't preferentially kill the oldest. Most hunters aren't out looking for trophies.

Natural predation does preferentially kill the very youngest, that is fawns. Thats a difference but not a big one. After the first year, there isn't any significant age selection by hunters.

I would add that the very youngest are also preferentially selected for starvation by over-population when predation and hunting isn't heavy enough to control the population.
