To its credit, China is trying to grapple with the pollution and fossil fuel issues.

I do a fair bit of business with the PRC and sometimes hit Shanghai. The pollution and global warming effects in China are truly dreadful - visible for all to see. But, the Chinese government takes the matter very seriously. They're pushing all sorts of programs, from reforestation (lots of trees getting planted to halt desertification), to nuclear, to water treatment and purification, to active and passive solar (they're now the #1 installation base of solar water heaters). Lots of public education on the matter as well. Very impressive effort, although of course the problem is immense and will take decades to put right.

So they ARE going first, for which they should be applauded.

I find it strange that the evil commie PRC government seems to care more about the longterm health of its citizenry than our wonderful US leaders do for Americans. (Remember, Bush's idea of an "energy policy" was to give 100B of our tax money to the oil firms. Boy, that really helped us a lot <ng>)

You missed the entire point of my post. We now have TWO worst polluters, not just one. No wonder weather is making headlines every single day.

While people sit around pointing fingers and denying the obvious reality, the planet is rapidly changing.

The sheeple had better wake up to what is happening to the weather. It's giving very clear warnings to those who are paying attention.
