RH,

I agree there needs to be a co-pay with a national system. Those who are rally hard up can qualify for a Medicaid set up where it is essentially free.

I think one of the big problems with our system is the liberal use of emergency rooms for basic care. If you get sick or slightly injured and need to see your doctor today, good luck. Many times they will send you to the emergency room, which certainly isn't the cost effective treatment center.

I think we need more doctors, specifically GPs. The number of doctors is limited by admission standards and cost.

Just thinking out loud but couldn't there be a less expensive and arduous GP degree program? You would still have your specialists to treat the serious stuff, but bumps and bruises and the flu and such you could go to a cheaper GP at a clinic????

Of course you would have to get that through the AMA which is a huge immobile object.
