Answer is OBVIOUS. He was listening and recording.

After all, this was a PUBLIC EVENT (nothing secret). One of MANY special campaign stops billed as places where the average joe could walk up and 'ask Mit *anything*'.

Seems perfectly reasonable to expect that there was a chance that something interesting or news-worthy might, just might, be uttered at some point - even if fleetingly. :-)

And, any candidate for high elected office in these post Senator 'Macacca' Allen days, who DOESN'T KNOWN that he will be taped at *every* public appearance... would have to be very 'sub-par' indeed....
