When the mad cow scare was on in Canada and people could not ship to the U.S. one local enterprising rancher sold tickets so people could hunt his several thousand head herd. You would pay $800 and get to walk or quad or ride onto his range land and shoot a cow. The cows were prime hereford/angus cross and much better than venison. Of course it wasn't very sporting and local animal rights activists were up in arms but completely legal. Most of the mad cow problem came from dairy cows being introduced into the food chain.
