Assuming you are using XP, double click on My Computer, right click on drive C and select properties. Under Properties, left click on the Tools tab and click on Defragment now. The click on Defragment. Then leave your computer for a day or two. If that doesn't do it, and it might not, then you need more memory. Often when Microsoft does an update, it needs more memory. XP with Service Pack 2 needs more than 512 meg. to perform acceptably. I did defrag.......that's what got my pc to run quieter. What I forgot to mention is that I got an error message Sunday nite that my virtual memory was low. Never have gotten that message before.......and since then I am having trouble downloading videos. As far as memory, I had thought I did have 512 megs of RAM. Is there a way of finding out how many megs I have without rebooting? Chris, I can't afford the time or money for a new PC. Besides I had everything upgraded including the CPU, Ram and hard drive 3 years ago. My only mistake was not going to 50 gigs of hard drive instead of 10. Taro, I will check out the ghost product you were mentioning. Thanks all.

However, Tuesday nite, it rebooted while I slept and now it runs like a champ. Webpages load quickly and the pc runs quietly. I am still considering an upgrade in RAM. Thanks for your help.
