Don't usually post here but am following Giuliani as well as writing on the two Obama threads----appreciate the message board here.

Please see the Wikipedia site about Mark Warner-------the sight is actually fairly accurate on Warner who is not a native Virginian.

Many thought, including me, that Warner's first run in Virginia was very deliberate in setting up Warner for future office in the U.S.Senate or for President because of having the same last name as Senator John Warner

en.wikipedia.org

"This is where the VP selection can matter to each party. The Democrats can improve their chances in one or two states by selecting a Southerner for the number two spot. In particular, Mark Warner could be a big help in winning Virginia. While the Democrats won the Governor's race and the Senate race in Virginia the last two years, in the 2004 Presidential race, Bush carried the state by 9%. Governor Phil Bredesen might make Tennessee more competitive but native son (of sorts) Al Gore could not win the state as the Presidential nominee in 2000."

In Virginia, voters who don't usually vote in Congressional or local elections will vote in the Presidential elections. Many government employees, Federal and Local, historically ignore other elections.

Generally, Mark Warner, would be an asset on the Democrat Party's ticket.

The question I ask is would Warner be enough of an asset to overcome Hilary's negatives.

The second question is would Warner want to run with Hilary who has high negatives with Virginians-------Warner would want to win, not lose the election.
