This proponent of Islam does not agree with you, per the quote...

Most importantly, following a religion has to be YOUR choice, and based on your conviction, understanding and ability. Basing it on what other people believe to be the 'right thing' does not help. Everyone has an opinion about religion, it is based on their understanding, their interpretation and their own level of faith and conviction. Each person can only do as much as they are capable of. Imposing one's beliefs on another does not make sense and it is not Islamic either...

You *really* painted yourself into a corner with this one, GZ... lining up with Theocrats and 'Islamo-Fascists' to say that people don't have personal freedom of choice when it comes to religion!

GZ, I am an American, proud of our Democratic traditions, and our national founding based upon the principle of freedom of religion.

I said that Religion is not INHERITED, and I am SHOCKED to see you line up against freedom of religious choice.

As I said in another post:

Some folks like me BELIEVE that people have free will, and can choose their own religious views (or even lack of religious views)... while others (neanderthals, Theocrats and various other religious Authoritarian types mostly) don't favor free will, and either think that everyone 'must stay' with whatever religion their parents were affiliated with, or else believe that ALL religions but their own are *false*, and want to convert (forcefully often) all the rest of the world over to their particular patch of dogma.

I never imagined that, in America in the Twenty First Century, I'd have to speak up for the concept of Free Will --- against the dying historical hand of religious Totalitarianism --- but, it looks like I do. :-(
