I was in Beijing, Xi'an, Yichang, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Suzhou. Blew through Chongqing but it was dark.
It is a big place for sure with a lot of regional differences.

I'm only going on what I saw and heard. GM cars were prized. Saw big Mercedes at hotels but nothing like the endless Audis. I was there in 2000 and there were far less cars and many more scooters still lots of those but I saw huge numbers of electric scooters and bikes. Deathly silent for pedestrians :O)

Latest stats I find show GM in the lead.. Honestly I saw few GMs and those I did were higher end looking. Likely though I may not have recognized the GM cars. I saw very few Japanese cars in those areas. In Toronto it's hard not to trip over a Lexus, Acura or Beemer..

So maybe the Japanese will take it up many notches as they were forced to do in NA. I saw one yellow Mini Cooper :O) I also say Peugeot and Hyundai but the mix of cars compared to Canada was very different... not even counting the odd looking three wheelers etc..

EDIT... BTW maybe you could help me out with this... Message 23789492
A few beer and lots of speculating yielded nothing, or maybe it was the other way around ;o)

EDIT: BTW the GM stat surprised me based on what I saw..
