If that CPI number was to come in over expectations, the Fed is screwed. They can't raise rates because of liquidity concerns and can't drop rates because of inflation. I would bet my mortgage that reported CPI is under consensus today. Bernanke has a gun to the head of the news agencies. Any rally on that news and I'm going to sell into it yet again.

CPI came in right on the numbers. Rally lasted about 18 seconds. Nice to know that core inflation is only 2.2% annualized. One of my employees came in this morning and reported that dinner for 4 was only $95 at OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE! Without cocktails as 2 were teenagers.
