"...but not for now." As far as timing buying opportunities, the VIX doesn't very often reach 30.. and judging from the look of the VIX chart it must be getting close to buying time. Since 1990 it has only reached this level about 5 times, and every time the problems were thought to be more serious and different than at any other time... but then, somehow, the problems miraculously get solved.
