There's still a great deal of latent racism in the South and there's even a much stronger aversion to "uppity newcomers from Harvard".

If so then would a woman be accepted in the South. If so then someone bearing the Clinton name would be popular in the South.

If what you say is true, then I think Edwards is the most suited candidate to carry a significant portion of the South.

I am also wondering if the current stock market slide will play a role in the primaries. I see no candidate (Dems or Repubs) talking about the economy except say Steve Forbes. And he is not even a candidate.
