07/26/2007 8:00AM IDC Interactive Data Reports 12.4% Revenue Increase and 32.8% Net Income Increase for the Second Quarter of 2007

BC

LAKE FOREST, Ill., July 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Brunswick Corporation (NYSE:BC) reported today net earnings from continuing operations of $0.65 per diluted share for the second quarter of 2007, compared with $0.99 per diluted share for the year-ago second quarter. Net earnings from continuing operations for the second quarter of 2006 include a $0.06 per diluted share benefit from tax-related items.

"We are pleased with our second quarter results given the increasingly difficult economic environment in which consumers are deferring expenditures for large ticket discretionary items, a factor affecting retail demand for marine products in the United States," said Brunswick Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dustan E. McCoy. "Double-digit sales growth in marine products in non-U.S. markets, boat parts and accessories and commercial fitness equipment helped to offset a 10 percent decline in marine product sales in the United States."

Comment: Funny? A local boat dealer here says he's having his best year ever? Ok, what about next year if discretionary spending slows?

Bearish sentiment rising....fear definitely beginning to take hold? Options expiry is causing some volatility....I think buying opportunities will be good.

More work coming in, but it certainly has been HOT! It's even been hot out on the lake. I'm ready to fish Table Rock....since its spring fed I expect to find cooler water temps? They're in the 90's here. I should be able to get a few hours of practice in tomorrow? It's been so long since we've had a real correction, you know the market always goes too far? Be careful!
