My fear is that if Fred throws out a lot of Unorthodox ideas that are unpopular people might think he represents the republican party. For instance, I see nothing wrong with the prescription program.

Opposing programs like that drug program IS Republican. At least it used to be.

I can see where its a Godsend to people who have catastrophic prescription needs and from what I have read, its not costing nearly as much as originally forecast.

Spoken like a publicist for the Democratic Party.

Edit: "The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced last month that the Medicare Part D drug benefit cost nearly $13 billion less than expected - instead of $43 billion, it only cost $30 billion."

Only $30 billion!

maybe he just used a shot gun to throw out numerous ideas in interview to watch reactions before he announces next month.

I would classify him as the lone ranger, if he follows what he discussed in his interview. Bush tired to change things and became isolated and leaks destroyed his ability to get things done. Great idea to try to change one gov. program or org.. but even then we still have the education department. pbs, etc etc etc. These people are so bolted down in washington it is beyond a president to fix it. Only when the public really want to recognize the do nothing gov adm and high overhead and throw people out of congress on an ongoing basis would something happen. Trouble is most people like the gov programs and the money they they off. It is the minority who pay dearly for these programs that protest,, and the minority do not have the votes to change things.
