KT, I don't like the idea of corporate welfare and agree that the "right" tends to be more guilty of that kind of thing. I just don't consider it much of a long term threat. It's easy to roll that kind of thing back. It's much more difficult to roll back large inefficient and/or ineffective government programs for the middle class and poor because no matter how bad they are some people become dependent on them. There are also always tons of government jobs tied to them that no politician is willing to end. So in the end they keep growing and wasting money.
