Joe, Re: Why did you switch? I switched from DSL to cable precisely because DSL was very unreliable. (I was struggling with DSL from the very beginning. I was a beta tester for Verizon).>

Lots of reasons. Foremost, was price. Lots cheaper for the DSL,

But with Comcast cable the service was generally unreliable. There're times I really want to connect. This minute, and transact. Modem would show connected, nothing happening.

Other times streaming data just wouldn't. Modem connected, nothing happening.

When it worked Cable modem was great. It just didn't work enough.

And, when it works, the DSL is snappier. It may not be faster for large file transfers, I've not tried that, but for the small stuff, like web surfing, it's snappier.

Anyhow, I signed up for a year of it. $168.00. If I don't like it I'll plug back into the comcast modem. Or, maybe, plug into the one that seems to be working at the moment.

It really is frustrating when I see a market turning and can't get to the broker.

OK, guys, the Telco repair man just made it out here and the service *RIPS*.

He "cut the bridge tap", "replaced the protector with one compatible with DSL", and rewired the computer "from green red to yellow black" inside the home( that's dependent on the protector replacement.) .

He tells me I'm at 19KF, 1KF out of limits, and I'm telling you it beats *HELL* out of the old cable service, at the moment, at downloading.

We'll see if the service continues this way, but for now I'm thrilled at about 1/3 the price of cable.
