No, I'm not insinuating any such thing. I'm referencing the roaring hatred that populist Republicans, including lots on this thread, have for the elite, the suspicion. Thomson sounds elite using words like that.

I follow the standard protocol that italics at the top of the post signals the quote to which I am replying. I've seen italics used sometimes for your purpose but I think it's confusing. If placing the comment above the title isn't enough, then I recommending drawing a line. I use lines when I think the distinction between my comment and the article is not clear.
