The liquidity crunch is global -- watching the yen last night was startling. If you were the one trying to prevent a 'plunge' as distinct from an 'orderly' decline, what would you do? To me the fingerprints were all over this market as it 'recovered'. I see no reason, nor any ability for global markets to do anything but go down for a while yet. Individual investors will be getting margin calls right about now, combined with massive yen short covering and calls against hedge funds. All this against a backdrop where the future looks even worse as ARMS reset and the housing market grinds to a halt.
