re: Well your probably not strongly partisan for either of the major parties (or at least if you are your not letting that get in the way of what you see as a pragmatic solution), but it might just be that you have an ideology that has positions that are similar to conservative republicans on some issues, and similar to liberal democrats on others.

And what do you call that person? Ideologues usually buy into 90% of their conservative/liberal positions. If a person is willing to pick and choose between the two, or support some position in between, I think you call that person a pragmatist.
