We're somewhere between 20 and 30 years behind European socialism

Maybe, maybe not. Our republic is older than Europe's set. Most of the republics of Europe are less than a century old. The French revolution was contemporaneous with ours, yet they've gone down three bad roads (mob rule, dictatorship, socialism). American exceptionalism and individualism still count for something by way of inoculation.

20 and 30 years behind European socialism.

If we go left, we will get "Hillarycare." Some sort of bastardized single pay. The elites and the Dems want it. Most people who have health insurance won't like the outcome, but they will go along because they will think they are getting something for nothing.
