Even if it is for the common good (and that could be debated), it still represents a reduction in the standard of living. You seem to want to ignore the costs, as long as you think the benefits are large enough, but it shouldn't work that way. Maybe after considering the costs and the benefits you decide to go ahead with the action, but the costs are still real and should be openly recognized. Didn't you ever get to the point in your life where you began to think about the needs of other people besides yourself? You are the one failing to consider the needs and wants of others. If in your opinion some other issue is more important than you think its just fine to limit the freedom of others or impose costs on them, whatever their needs or wants might be.
