CEO Paul Jacobs expects a final deal
with Nokia to be "one, two or more years out, not months."

unless qcom can get back to itself of yesterday and punch these folks around in the various court rooms this company's stock is headed no-where. More investors will move on to better returns unless qcom really wakes up and understands the real challenges are supporting their stock through better performance in their fights with brcm and nok.

somewhere there must be a court that provides some sort of reality to all these suits being filed. It is obvious nok/brcm are trying to tie up Qcom management and financial resources in the legal system and divert their attention from research.

Dano's story, if an accurate reflection of PJ's thoughts tells us where we are going and where we are not going. Nok is years from settling under the current litigious scenario. There can be be no capitulation to BRCM and NOK because that would be the end of Q's licensing revenue program as we know it. There will be a new strategy involving less focus on Nokia and less use of outside counsel which means less reliance on litigation as practiced by outside counsel. Yet this strategy will be "more aggressive—rather than reactive" and "top management will more closely oversee both the legal and the technical aspects of the company's various cases". PJ is clearly saying that there will be a SPINCO 2.

Jim M.

I believe the comment by Paul Jacobs "one, two or more years out, not months''was taken out of context by Dano. My understanding of Pauls comments in the CIBC report dealt with the arbitration process that QCOM requested and not a global settlement solution.
