Seems to me that this is a political issue. If you want to stop it you can pursue a variety of political remedies, such as recall, referendum, election, etc. P.S. Some folks from Spain and Australia are interested in building and operating the Anchorage version of the "Bridge to Nowhere".

I like the idea of a superhighway between Mexico and the US. Why not? Good for business. Maybe you don't believe in free trade?
