Llaine,
I absolutely mean what I say. The world got along quite nicely until very recently on a much reduced level of global trade and could do it again. To view everything from the standpoint of "consumer" is to fall into the Neo-Marxist maze, there are more important things in the world than a media driven hyper-stimulated desire to consume.

We should make our own socks and machine guns for the sake of our future.

But I really believe that globalism is a very short term aberration so enjoy it while you can. Resource depletion will cut it short, I believe.

Unless Slagle plants oranges in FLA and loves the $700 a ton tariff imposed in Brazilian orange juice because it protects his business.
