They sold thalidomide originally for a different reason. This was not about thalidomide but about the slur that insinuates that the Chinese sell defective and harmful stuff with abandon.
It was just one that I picked out of a hat, but I am sure there are several instances of chicanery in the US.

They shot the Chinese guy that OK'd for a bribe.
Of course there are no bribes in the good ol' USA.
