You can call Government expenditures an emotional, Republican well work-shopped word like "entitlements" buts thats a red herring.

What Reagan and Bush have both done is cut Government income (mostly taxes) below what the Government spends - and gosh golly you end up with a deficit.

A bit wiser way of going about it - not that any politicians seem to be into a "wiser" way - would be cut expenditures and then cut taxes using the surplus created.

The trouble with Bush especially is he just cut taxes with the main motivator being to help the rich. I doubt Bush has considered the deficit and its consequences for even 30 seconds. Bush is the antithesis to responsible, good government.
