I still think if someone just ran on the platform "I can run a competent and fiscally sound government" they would probably win. We don't need a genius, just a good administrator.

This isn't to say that I am exactly happy with the choices on the Democratic side of things. When I worked for the councilman in LA in the late 1980s, the Republicans even back then were obnoxious. They were constantly attacking my councilman who was moderate but very popular. I also thought the radical left were buttholes as well......and considered both just a local phenomenon. Fast forward to 2007........I consider the GOPers much worse than obnoxious but I am finding that so much of what the radical left was saying was on point, accurate and not nearly as radical as I thought. Its astonishing to me but the GOP since 2000 has pushed me more left than I have ever been previously.
