It's not clear how much money (if any) Sun gets directly from that. They may just be hoping to sell support.

Right now, the market is digesting the Feds' decision to lower overnight discount rate to 4.5%, to add liquidity if stockholders continue to lighten their portfolio. We have asked for 30 year fixed mortgage at 4.5% too.

Sun is waiting for Oracle to announce 11g availability for Solaris, which will sell a few hardware. Its tailored for data mining to generate business for customers.

Service is big business, once SUN realizes or asks what the IT department budget is? IBM Service works on budget, not running on hourly charges. If it is budget oriented, you want your hardware never to fail or loss data. Maintenance has to be prearranged not after failure(contact resistance problems).
