If I put a mine in production with 100 workers, I have benefited 1000 people in Canada with decent jobs and perhaps 400 stockholders with better returns.

That is my best way of helping. Hand out cash and you create a needy person. Hand out opportunity and you create perhaps an additional 4 other people who develop a life-long habit of helping themselves.
