Muslim street commanders, who run lucrative drug networks, have organized youngsters in housing projects to ambush police and confront security forces. The response time allows hundreds of Muslims to storm police cars and patrols within minutes. "You no longer see two or three youths confronting police," Thoomis said. "You see whole tower blocks emptying into the streets to set their comrades free when they are arrested." France's huge Muslim minority community has come under the influence of agents often influenced and financed by Al Qaida. These agents have recruited Muslim youngsters for urban warfare in which police and government representatives are injured daily. What a crock this article is. First off, the Muslims in France are mostly Algerian. France has had a love/hate relationship with its former colony of Algeria. However, Algeria continues to be part of what is called Metropolitan France. That means the citizens of Algeria can move to France without needing working papers like other foreigneres. Because economic conditions in Algeria are bad, the numbers of Algerians emigrating to France has been significant. These poor Algerians have mostly located in the suburbs of the larger cities like Paris, Lyon and Marseilles. They face considerable discrimination from the French. That ongoing discrimination which has created considerable dispair and anger in the Algerian communities led to the riots of 2005. If there is an al Qaida influence [which I doubt], it is only ancillary. If you want a better understanding of the relationship between the French and the Algerian emigrants and their offspring, then look no further than the relationship between American whites and American blacks. With the notable exception that American blacks live mostly in the inner city, their dispair, anger, corruption, drug dealing etc mirrors that of the French Algerians. In fact, many American police have lost their lives in America's ghettos. Having said all that, this is a WAG but I think the state of the Algerian/French relationship is about where the black/white relationship in America was about 20-30 years ago. Consequently, I would expect more Algerian rioting in the future.Muslim rioting in Denmark -- worst riots in years "Several days of Muslim Riots in Denmark (Not only in France)," a translation of this Jyllands Posten piece from Free Republic (thanks to Shiva): Such BS.......these riots occurred when a Danish artist made a political cartoon using Mohammad.
