They are saying people are moving from Hong Kong to Singapore because the pollution from china is getting too bad.

We had no trouble breathing actually and my daughter is particularly sensitive. Saw one N95 in two weeks except folks working in food trade. If that is recent a lot of my pictures are like that... It's overcast, humid and sweltering.. 40 degrees at times.. rainy season.. Not saying no pollution... but pictures are misleading... You should see how clean the highways are, and the gardens used to make them fit in..... and lack of litter.. Put Canada to abject shame.. Seeing is believing You are correct about the construction though.. Jokingly the national bird of China is the crane.. ;o)
