The specific beliefs of fundamentalists are vitally important. Don't see how one can get around that. So the specific beliefs of fundamentalists have to be considered or one will fall into false moral equivalence.

And the results of extremism are seldom positive (imo), though certainly some are far worse than others.

Off the top of my head, the better Christian fundamentalists include people like William Wilberforce, John and Charles Wesleys, George Whitefield, Billy Graham, the founders of most of our older universities, etc. Not a lot to look down on there and not people who s/b lumped together with Sayyid Qutb, ibn Wahhib, etc. IMO
