Nokia is interested in reducing their royalty cost to QCOM. Nokia has argued for some time that they need to be properly compensated for their WCDMA patents and IPR. Nokia views these license negotiations with Qualcomm as dealing with any other supplier for BOM. To Nokia it is just another procurement!
Altmans comment is suggestive of Nokia owing Qualcomm alot of dough for past and future GSM/GPRS/EDGE infringement (perhaps licensing going forward).
The point I was making...Nokia wants to be paid for their WCDMA patents and Qualcomm wants to be paid for their GSM/GPRS/EDGE patents as well. Altmans comments puts the scope into perspective for all to see.
