They continue to need to diversify from the technology they invented and sold to Microsoft. I have been told that the piece that Microsoft acquired from Whale prior to he purchase of Whale (TS Gateway) will reduce the need for MetaFrame (Presentation Server). It certainly has some very useful features for organizations with traveling users that need access to corporate data. Server 2008 allows for publishing of applications. The TS gateway allows applications to be throttled intelligently for users when they are local and when they are remote from the corporate infrastructure. XenSource apparently was built on GNU software. NetScalar was built on GNU software. Citrix has a history fo finding profitable areas to compliment Microsoft Server software.
