Thats a distinction that s/b kept in mind Absolutely it should be kept in mind- (but you can compartmentalize it while you examine other aspects, she insists). And absolutely there are different kinds of intolerance. There is NO moral equivalence between these groups. As I said, repeatedly, we have come a long way, baby. And while I may watch a show or read books about their culture and their history, and even if I indicate some understanding of what motivates them, there is not a shred of empathy, compassion, or mercy in my heart for terrorists- none. I don't want to negotiate with them, nor legitimize them. I want them to be destroyed. But I am also very interested in what makes people and movements tick.
