Ah, I see, the extremely bright sixteen year old atheist, raised in a very Christian environment, and examining his belief by expressing this and asking questions, when confronted with the rather in your face CHristianity present in Texas schools, is at fault. Hm.
Of course, he asked for it.

It's perfectly acceptable for a teacher, an adult, to make an assignment along with derogatory comment about his beliefs- or lack thereof- based on her presumption that non-CHristians think sexually explicit writing is acceptable? An assumption that he and his parents are less than moral, less possessed of ethics because he questioned HER faith?

Your inability to see the other side of this is exactly the problem. That you see no harm in this kind of thing- well, therein lies the harm.
