"There's a reason we send young people to war. They have no experience in the world, and are easily conned into jingoistic patriotism, to believe that they are serving some noble purpose."

I pointed this out to my oldest when he was trying to convince me that 16 year olds were smarter, more trustworthy, understood the world better and that they should be controlling the world.

After he moved out in a huff and lived with his friends for a while, who stole him blind more than once, he came to the realization that idealism isn't all it is cracked up to be.

It's not that they are in better physical condition. How much effort does pulling a trigger take?

Right - you just get settled onto the couch and fire away.
