default rate or regular rate?

Late on any other bills by accident? They changed the law last year so if you miss a cable bill payment, telephone bill etc, the credit cards can up your rate to the "default rate".

Other than that, no idea, call them and ask. If they don't bump it back down to 7-9% or so, change cards. With a good credit score, most will go to 1% over prime.

All the cards I have ever had bump the rate up after 6 months to a year but they always drop the rate again with a phone call for 6-12 months at a time despite my never carrying a balance. It is kind of a joke with them. Just in case I ever need to use it and carry a balance over for an emergency liquidity crisis, I tell them they are more willing to work with me when I owe them no money than when they have me by the short hairs. -g-

Citibank did the drill with me for about 10 years then wouldn't some down on the rate one day. I dropped them in the same conversation and just got a new card at 0% for a year and it has hovered around 7-9% ever since. There is enough competition out there you don't have to take any BS.

Good Luck,

Lee
