i had two cousins each had about 18 + children.. canada provides or did, funds monthly for each child as part of the social program. Both were farmers, plenty of vegs,eggs, typical large meal was at lunch, eating light at breakfast and night time. lots of potatoes. g

He was the man--------I have a wonderful picture of him from the 1800's----slender and gaunt with a full white beard.

On the other hand GT. Grandmother was a robust woman.

Your friend with the family is fairly descriptive of how the large families lived-----once visited a friend in the hills when I was in college who was the oldest of 13-----a small house with all kinds of bunkbeds and a small garage with a room for the parents. Family dinner and everyone helped with the cooking. That family has produced children who are high achievers throughout the USA. (Just one example of what can be done if we try.)
