Reagan deserves about 5% of the credit. Carter deserves just as much. Carter was the first one in there doing diplomacy with the SALT talks. He opened all the doors and Reagan hesitated to walk through them but finally did.

If you ask any Russian they will tell you Reagan didn't have much to do with the commies falling. It was their economy, Afghanistan and the fact the young people were sick and tired of no freedom and all the corruption and lies. Corruption and lies very similar to what Bush-Cheney are putting out now, by the way.

The list of those responsible for the USSR falling is very long. Reagan is on it, but as only one player. But liars like Sean Hannity shamelessly state that Reagan defeated the Soviet Union. BS. He didn't fire a single shot at them. The only ones who got shot at were the reformers who risked their lives. Gorby in particular.
