"A straw man argument is when you make a fake argument for your opponent and then preceded to destroy it. "

Correct.

"No fake arguments here."

Sure there are. When you cherry pick the data, that is a fake argument.

"The fact that the official US rate for infant mortality is higher than in several countries with socialized health care or "single payer" systems"

Yes. And the reason given is that LBW babies are the single biggest reason. And LBW babies are generally because of lack of prenatal care. Something the other countries do a lot better.

"I pointed out how the official stats in different countries don't measure the same thing. Babies get counted in the infant mortality rate in the US that wouldn't get counted in a number of other countries."

Right. The thing you didn't prove is whether or not it makes a significant difference. Which makes it a fake argument. There are ways to normalize the data. Do it and then make the argument.

This isn't the only measure that the US falls short of other countries as far as health care. It is one of the easiest to rectify, however.
